One of the reasons JennyCraig’s program is successful is because they focus on progress—not perfection. Unlike other attempts to lose weight, this time around, I’m being encouraged to just make progress!
The people at JennyCraig are not focused on how much weight I’m losing. They want me to change my habits and concentrate on moving forward! It’s a completely different approach than I’m used to.
I was on the program for about a month when school ended. My daughter Grace and I BOTH got into a holiday mode after school was out! After weeks of steady and slow weight loss, we both gained back some of the weight.
I went in to my JennyCraig center this week really bummed out. I was feeling very unmotivated to keep going.
But my counselor Christy (she is also my daughter Grace’s counselor) wasn’t even phased. Christy encouraged both of us to keep going, stick with it. I left that visit with a new attitude because I’d expected to receive negative feedback (like so many other weight loss programs).
But instead I received empathy and a pat on the back to keep going. My daughter felt the same way and she was really on the verge of giving up. I’m so thankful that Christy gave us the support that she did. I keep telling myself, “Progress, Not Perfection”.
PS-Grace is going to do some of her own blogging about the experience, starting in a few weeks. She wanted to get some progress under her belt before she started. I’m so proud of her!
